Bridezilla II

Ok.... here's an update about my previous posting regarding certain greedy Bridezilla.

My friend was invited last minute to the Bridezilla's apt. with many other co-workers for a sort of a Bridal shower - arranged by the Bride-to-be herself.  There was some alcohol, nothing but pasta salad and rice. She didnt even bother to get chips and needless to say it was beyond pathetic!

And then she had a nerve to ask everyone to pay $25.00 per person to help cover the cost!! Everyone was so pissed, nobody even took a drink and left as soon as they can.

Bridezillas

One of my friend got this email from her co-worker who's about to get married. My friend was NOT invited to the wedding but invited to give a wedding gift regardless....

What can I say?

____________________________________________________________________________

Hello friends and Family,

As many of you may know I am getting married July 3rd and just because you are not attending the wedding it does not mean that I will not accept your gifts. Attached is the website where you can send us your regards.

I know at this point many of you are laughing.

Regards,

wine

I enjoy having a glass of wine with my dinner. I love full-bodied red, such as Bordeaux, but since it's not all that easy to find and usually very costly, I go for next best thing such as Merlot, Shiraz or nice Chianti. On occasions, I will have chilled white in hot summer nights, but usually regardless of the weather or pairing (fish - white, meat - red?) - I am a real red girl.

But everyone who knows me knows that I am not the sort of chick to spend $$$. And let's face it, a bottle of Yellow tail or even Trader Joe's Charles Shaw, other wise know as Two Buck Chuck is just fine for me. I know a lot of people out there will protest, but Charles Shaw keep on winning different awards at major competitions. I tried bottles that cost over $100 each, but seriously, I didnt think it was all that different.

A bottle of wine, is more than just taste to a lot of people. It's about class, it's way to appreciate finer things in life, tradition, or a lot of times - self-indulgence. A way to say, "I am worth it". Well, in my case, wine is no different from any other drink. And I am kinda sick of all the attitude that goes with the wine.

So here I am tonight. Some spanish olives, smoked salmon, prosciotto, fresh baked baguette.... and glass of two buck chuck Merlot to enhance everything to next level. And ya, I am also watching "Bottle Shock" tonight.

Dexter

I was hooked from very begining. I purchased Showtime because of it and I do not go out on Sunday nights or accept phone calls while Dexter is on.  I just love, love it!

I am dying to know what will happen in Season 5.  Long live Dexter, the best TV show ever!!

Weird Korean names

I was talking to my friend Dave today.  He told me he got some new "cum-ho" tires for his wife's car.

"What did you say?!"

"You know Cum-Ho, they are Korean tires.  You should know."

And then I realized he was talking about Kum Ho (금호, or Golden Tiger) Tires. Oh shit, I had to sigh... I also heard KIA is short for "Killed In Action". I've had many friends over the years who became butt of a joke because of their name here in US.  If your Korean name has Suk, Kum, Ho, Dong in it - all very common in Korean name - it's a problem. My Korean name is Hye Li - I had to endure bad jobkes for some time.  Instead of "Hi, Hye-li"-it was "Hi..Li" with a smirk.

I am not saying you should loose your identity to conform to western society. I am just saying why be butt of a joke when you dont need to. I have this friend who's name is Dong-Ho.  He gets chuckles everywhere he goes. When I told him, he got upset.  And he tried to give himself an English name. Told him Rainbow Park is just too hippy and kinda gay drag queen name....
